Born in Poland, raised in Australia and living in USA, New York, I explore visual patterns and work to communicate in a way that is uplifting, unifying and beautiful. I start with a concept that needs to be seen, look for the common denominator in human nature, the nature in human and I try to make it beautiful. For, what is life for than to make it more beautiful for each other?
After high-school, I studied fine art at the VCA in Melbourne, Australia. Then, to maintain my legal status in the USA I continued to pursue studies, and earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, as well as a Masters in Global Communication, and portraiture at SVA, New York.
The subject matter of my work initially began as a study of human anatomy which has been both a reflection of my aim to master my craft and my interest in the human experience. I then explored more abstract shapes believing I was moving beyond what can be seen and towards what is felt. I spent a period visually illustrating human energy and natural energy (fire, water ect). My family’s involvement in fashion influenced my use and love of fabric as I began to use fabric art as an entry into sculpture as well as hand painted fabrics for wear and display.
Weather using fabric or pencil, my practice relied heavily on line-work and color. Visual language fascinated me and my messages were often simple and even decorative. Working in metal I became more deliberate with my concepts and particular about the longevity of my materials. Building a studio where I am able to work large scale with sculptural pieces is becoming a reality and I’m now working on the next phase of my work, currently exploring sex, violence and fantasy.
